How Our Team Revived An Old Farm House’s Foundation

September 28, 2017

farmhouse foundation repair

1st Choice House leveling even takes small jobs. This is a story of an old farmhouse near Cuero. We discovered a mold issue from leaking plumbing, discovered a support beam that had moved off its block, replaced old wood shims with steel shims, and added necessary piers.

Here’s a little on why these things are important:

  • White Mold – Mold control is key to a healthy home. In the early stages, mold can take the form of “white mold”. If left untreated, it can lead to health problems ranging from allergies to lung damage.
  • Support Beams – These are incredibly important. If not properly stabilized, they can cause your floor to cave in or severely damage your home.
  • Shims – Shims need to be solid in order for your foundation to be seated properly. Trading out old wooden shims for new, steel ones allows your foundation to optimally handle stress.
  • Piers – Your pear needs to be at the right elevation to fully support the beam. With the correct installation of piers, and the augmentation provided by shims, you are perfectly positioned for sound foundation.

Our hardworking crew is top notch, and on-site supervision was in ample supply. Bea was so happy with the job she shared the photos with us on our Facebook page.

“After only two days of intensive work by the expert 1st Choice House Leveling crew, an old country farmhouse in DeWitt County is now ready for additional repairs. Foundations matter!” she said.
